Opening Event

This year the Tea Tree Gully Poetry Festival officially opens Thursday, October 26 at a special launch event hosted at Glen Ewin Estate in Houghton. The launch event will feature poetry recitals from well known local poets, an open mic, raffle, door prizes and more!

  • Thursday 26 October  6pm for 6.30pm start
  • Glen Ewin Estate, Houghton
  • $5 entry at the door

For those who would like to bring a poem or two to read during the Open Mic session, the time allocation is 3 minutes per reader. If you would like your poetry to be included in the anthology, please bring a hard copy of your poem/s with your name, phone number and email address, for the editors. 

A selection of poems will be included in the Festival’s Anthology.

Poet in Residence workshop

Every Festival features a Poet-in-Residence, a well-known published South Australian poet. This year we are fortunate to have SA poet Judy Dally as our poet-in-residence. Find out more about Judy here

  • Thursday 9 November, 2-4pm

Poetry at the Pub

Join us for a hilarious night of humorous poetry – open mic, limerick competition, Spicks and Specks-style rounds and prizes to be won! Hosted by local poet and author Jill Wherry. 

  • Thursday 16 November 7pm for a 7.30pm start
  • The Gully Public House and Garden (Formerly Tea Tree Gully Hotel)

Closing Event

The Festival officially closes at the Library on Wednesday November 29 where the Poet-in-Residence provides a festival overview, and we present prizes to the poetry competition winners!

To promote the Festival to children, the North Eastern Writers will engage with local schools to provide guided poetry writing workshops and recitals. Please get in touch if your school is interested.
